For Friday Sept. 9

Hw: From the handout, pick the poem you would like to focus on. Write 1-page informal response considering major questions you have about it, what its major themes are, and how/why you relate to it.

• Come to class with both textbooks: Other Words & About a Mountain 
• Read over syllabus. Write down and be ready to ask 3 questions you have about it.
• Send me an email (jchristian@westfield.ma.edu) from your preferred email address in which you briefly introduce yourself. This also provides me with a way to contact you over the course of the semester.
• Find my office in PARENZO 11, and sign your name (legibly) on the sheet that says "I Found Inst. Christian's Office" Class Meeting 9/7/2011
• Brief Introductions
• Hopes and Fears activity
• Introduce Course, go over syllabus, show blog
• Read poems and begin to discuss
